Despite days of public outcry, the UC Berkeley College Republicans proceeded with a highly publicized satirical bake sale that protested an Affirmative Action-like bill currently awaiting approval from Governor Jerry Brown.
The result: a highly charged free-for-all protest that included student Democrat organizations, angry minority groups, the media, and even an opposing Harry Potter-themed table, selling “enchanted Costco muffins,” priced differently for pure bloods and muggles.
The power of student activism continues to empower and inspire me.
